Making Your Own Breast Milk Soap

WHY MAKE THE SWITCH?

Ever wondered how or why babies skin is still dry, bumpy or having rashes even though you are using baby soup, fragrance-free detergent and cleaning them correctly? Many times the soaps that you think are helpful for your baby are actually doing more harm than good. That was my experience at least – and who is better at judging my child than me? Plus nothing is better than a product you make yourself, with no extra addictive, oils or any other chemicals meant to keep it on the shelf for life.

WHY I CHOOSE TO MAKE MY OWN BREASTMILK SOAP

One day while motioning our daughter I felt her back and it was like a bad rash – I MEAN BAD! I didn’t want to use the E word… Eczema but it was giving Eczema. Now I’m still not 100% if it is or isn’t (it’s only in the one area and does not react or flare-up) The only thing I had changed since our daughter was born was the laundry detergent (which was so-called organic LIES!) it completely ruined my sweet girls back – which I was happy was the only place affected.

I decided to make my own soap because I’m a creative person (1), I love handmade goods (2) and I’m big on knowing what’s in my products. If I can’t read the ingredients or look them up and feel good about the product I’m using then I can’t use it. So we made the switch… immediately.

HOW DID YOU DO IT?

So with due diligence and research I wanted an “all-natural, organic product” that’s not possible with soap sadly – BUT all the other ingredients added are 100% organic and natural. Personally, as a Haitian woman Goat Milk soap has been used in my family for generations and I loved the idea of using that as a base. The benefits of Goat Milk Soap is raving but if you don’t know here’s some

  • – Gentle cleanser
  • – Rich in nutrients
  • – Can improve dry skin (which is the point!)
  • – Natural Exfoliant
  • – Supports a healthy skin microbiome

So with a Goat Milk Soap base, thawed breast milk (DO NOT HEAT THIS UP) organic rolled oats – which is often used to aid in the inflammation of eczema and cooling the body of rashes and other skin irritants and organic lavender. I went to work!

WATCH ME CREATE

On my Instagram, I show the entire process, step-by-step. Not only was it super easy, but it’s a fun family activity if you have older children. The best part is that the soap is giftable, and useable for the entire family and the entire body (especially the face) Breastmilk is a powerful, free gift that can help clear up acne, rashes, or even allergic reactions. Adding that gentle, powerful mix to the other ingredients I just started giving it to others as gifts.
