In the sacred journey of childbirth and the profound transition of death, there exists a guiding light, a nurturing presence rooted in ancient wisdom and holistic understanding — the doula. Within the rich tapestry of doula care, I underwent the unique experience of becoming an Afro-Indigenous Full-Spectrum Doula and Death Doula. As a standing pillar of support, I blend cultural heritage, spiritual reverence, and compassionate care to honour life’s most profound moments.
At the heart of this multifaceted role lies the essence of holistic wellness. As an Afro-Indigenous Full-Spectrum Doula, my approach transcends the conventional boundaries of childbirth support. Drawing from the wisdom of Jesus and my ancestors in the vibrancy of Haitian, Taino and African culture, I weave a tapestry of care that embraces the birthing journey’s physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.

In Haiti and many parts of Africa, childbirth is celebrated as a sacred rite of passage, steeped in tradition and community support. As a doula rooted in this cultural heritage, I honour the legacy of my ancestors by providing nurturing care that honours the innate wisdom of the birthing person. Through rituals, herbal remedies, and ancestral practices, I create a sanctuary of support that nurtures both body and soul.
What is a “full-spectrum doula?”
But my role extends beyond the realm of childbirth alone. As a Full-Spectrum Doula, I am a guardian of holistic wellness throughout the spectrum of reproductive experiences. From fertility support to miscarriage care, from pregnancy to postpartum, my presence offers unwavering support and advocacy, honouring each individual’s diverse needs and experiences on their unique journey.
In embracing the term “Full-Spectrum,” I acknowledge the sacredness of every phase of the reproductive journey, including its most profound conclusion — death. As a Death Doula, I walk alongside individuals and their loved ones with compassion and reverence as they navigate the final transition of life. Drawing from Afro-Indigenous traditions and spiritual wisdom, I create sacred space for reflection, healing, and closure, honouring the inherent dignity and beauty of the dying process.
Central to my practice as a Death Doula is the recognition that death is not an end but a sacred threshold to be traversed with grace and dignity. Through gentle presence, compassionate listening, and ritualistic ceremonies, I offer solace and support to the dying and their families, guiding them through the sacred transition with love and reverence.
In embodying the roles of both Full-Spectrum Doula and Death Doula, I am called to bear witness to the profound cycles of life and death, embracing the fullness of human experience with humility and grace. Rooted in Afro-Indigenous wisdom and cultural heritage, my practice transcends the boundaries of conventional doula care, offering a holistic sanctuary of support that honours the sacredness of every moment, from birth to beyond.
As an Afro-Indigenous Full-Spectrum Doula and Death Doula, I stand as a beacon of light, a guardian of holistic wellness, and a vessel of ancestral wisdom, embracing the sacred journey of life and death with reverence, compassion, and unwavering love.
