Embracing the Adventure: Our First Day of Homeschool

Planting the Seeds of Learning

If you have been following my social media and articles since the beginning. You would know I’ve always intended to homeschool, not just for preschool and kindergarten. I’m trying to go the whole way! (if they want) Given my profound love for education and my background in English and psychology. But today, it’s different. Today marks the beginning of a unique journey with our little one. Education begins at birth, and I’m excited to witness every step of our child’s growth and development.

A Holistic Approach

As a holistic mama, I’m committed to taking a holistic approach to homeschooling. Our homeschooling journey will be rooted in nature and world-schooling. We aim to create an environment where our children can explore the wonders of the natural world while developing a deep connection with God. We will be world schooling (which I’ll discuss more in another article) and connecting all topics we learn to real-life adventures.

The First Day

I still want to enjoy those “traditional” markers in a brick-and-mortar school, like first-day photos, picture days, field trips, etc. It’s not challenging to create those moments, especially since hundreds of homeschooling groups and co/ops near me, including my own.

So I created her own First Year of Homeschool basket and made her “first day” photos so we have memories for every year.

Our first day of homeschooling was nothing short of magical. We started the morning with a prayer, thanking God for this incredible opportunity to guide and nurture our child’s education. After all, for us, living in God and Jesus is at the core of everything we do.

Our home has always been a canvas for learning. However, this time around, it seemed different. We engaged in a routine involving music time, circle time, a short lesson and outdoor play.

The Joy of Discovery

One of the most beautiful aspects of homeschooling is the joy of discovery. Every moment is an opportunity to learn, and it’s incredible to see how our child’s mind is like a sponge, soaking up knowledge from the world around them.

As an English and psychology major, I’m constantly amazed by the depth of questions our little one asks. We read books together, explore new words, and encourage their creativity through storytelling. It’s heartwarming to witness their enthusiasm for learning.

Future Dreams

Our homeschooling journey is just beginning, and I couldn’t be more excited about the possibilities. As a keynote speaker and author, I dream of sharing our experiences and insights with the world, inspiring other families to embark on their homeschooling adventures.

Our first day of homeschooling for our two-year-old has been an incredible experience, and I am overflowing with excitement for the journey ahead. It’s a journey that encompasses our love for God, nature, and holistic education.

Thank you for joining us on this adventure. I look forward to sharing more about our homeschooling experiences, gardening endeavours, and spiritual growth as we navigate this beautiful journey together.

Stay tuned for more updates from Faith + Mama’s homeschooling odyssey. May God bless our path, and may we continue to embrace the wonders of learning as naturally and lovingly as possible.
